arequipa, peru

arequipa is a nice city in the south of peru. nearly all of these photos are from a convent that was closed-off from the public for hundreds of years until the seventies. the nuns may be out, but the pretty - though i'm sure well renovated/restored - architecture of the place is still in.

colca canyon, peru

still have some photos leftover from my 2008 south america trip. these are from a 2-day tour of colca canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world.

100th post: cihu mausoleum

i can't believe i've kept this thing alive for so long.

but to speak of things that aren't so alive, taiwan feels "so-so" about its past with chiang kai-shek and dismantled most statues of him across the island. instead of destroying them all, they are now conveniently situated in one small park in cihu. less is more? or more is more? there was even a band playing. and ice cream.
